Abstract：Regional innovation is an important part of a country's innovation system.This article combs the evolution of the US policies,reveals the trend that the federal government gradually attaches importance to the role of regional innovation,analyzes the changes of concept behind the change,and introduces multi-level regional governance mechanisms compatible with it.The relevant policies,concepts and governance mechanisms reflect the global changing trend in the field,including the“place centered”concept,proactive regional policies,the role of government,and the governance mechanisms.Regional innovation and regional coordinated development are also important parts of China's modernization.The experience of the United States can also provide useful insights and lessons for China.
