Abstract:The integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent represents a core national strategy, whereas the traditional fragmented disciplinary system can hardly meet the demands of cutting-edge interdisciplinary innovation.Taking national interdisciplinary centers as the research object, this study draws on the concept of the enclave and introduces the theories of structural holes and complex adaptive systems to construct a four-stage analytical model:institutional enclave-structural hole reconstruction-nonlinear interaction-systemic emergence.Empirical analysis is carried out by combining quantitative coding of policy texts with a multi-case comparative approach.Policy analysis indicates that the state has built interdisciplinary centers into institutional enclaves to break the shackles of traditional academic departments through differentiated empowerment;nevertheless, core authorities concerning personnel management and funding allocation have not been sufficiently devolved.A comparative investigation of typical cases including Peking University,Lanzhou University and Southeast University reveals gradient disparities among different interdisciplinary centers in terms of institutional enclave implementation, structural hole occupation and nonlinear interaction.Current platforms are still plagued by dilemmas such as enclave detachment, structural hole failure and superficial integration. This study demonstrates that national interdisciplinary centers occupy structural holes within disciplinary networks by virtue of institutional isolation, assemble diverse subjects to generate nonlinear interactions, and ultimately achieve the systemic emergence of knowledge, talent and institutional ecosystems.Furthermore,it puts forward optimization paths for integrated development from three dimensions:consolidating enclave-based institutions, activating structural hole efficacy, and catalyzing systemic emergence.
