Abstract:This study takes National intellectual property “County Project” (IPCP)implemented since 2009 as a quasi-natural experiment,and uses a multi-period difference-in-differences model to examine the impact of the project on county-level innovation output.The results show the followings.The IPCP has significantly stimulated the quantity and quality of county-level innovation output,and robustness tests support this conclusion.The policy only has a long-term impact on the quantity of innovation.Further analysis indicates that Intellectual Property Demonstration City Policy has strengthened the positive impact of IPCP on quantity and quality of innovation.IPCP has also significantly promoted county-level innovation investment,trademark registration,and economic growth.This study provides references for inspiring county-level innovation output and achieving county-level innovation-driven development.
