Abstract There is an interaction between the agglomeration of high-end equipment manufacturing industry and the development of talent. This paper makes an analysis of the coupling between the agglomeration of high-end equipment manufacturing industry and regional carrying capacity of talent in terms of regional space, development goal, resource elements and innovative elements, constructing the evaluation index system of high-end equipment manufacturing industry agglomeration and regional carrying capacity of talent. An empirical analysis of the relationship between the agglomeration of high-end equipment manufacturing industry and the development of talent is conducted with reference to the data of Zhejiang province from 2007 to 2012. The empirical study indicates that the coupling curve between the agglomeration of high-end equipment manufacturing industry and regional carrying capacity of talent in Zhejiang province presents a trajectory of upward-downward-upward-downward
