The influence of industrial co-agglomeration on regional green innovation

Abstract:Based on Chinese provincial panel data from 2019 to 2016,We empirically test the impact of industrial co-agglomeration on regional green innovation and regional differences.The SBM model considering undesired output is used to estimate the green innovation efficiency of each region and to measure the regional green innovation level.Based on the industrial co-agglomeration index and the green innovation efficiency index,30 provinces are clustered into four development models.After controlling the variables such as the regional economic growth level,foreign direct investment,human capital level,government support and environmental regulation,the regression results show that industrial co-agglomeration significantly promotes the regional green innovation.Sub-regional regression results show that there are significant regional differences in the impact of industrial co-agglomeration on regional green innovation.It is concluded that the co-agglomeration has a greater impact on green innovation in the eastern region than in the central and western regions.The central and western regions need to further play the role of factor input in the process of industrial co-agglomeration to stimulate innovation and improve regional green innovation level.
