The Impact of Marketization of Data Factors on Cities' Innovation Capabilities of Key Core Technologies——A Quasi-Natural Experiment Based on the Establishment of Data Trading Platforms

Abstract:Based on panel data from 281 prefecture-level and above cities in China from 2009 to 2022,this study uses the establishment of data trading platforms as a quasi-natural experiment and applies a staggered DID model to examine how data factor marketization affects cities' key core technology innovations.The results show that data factor marketization significantly enhances cities' innovation capabilities of key core technologies.Mechanism analysis indicates that this effect operates through the“knowledge-collaboration”effect at the micro-level,industrial structure optimization at the meso-level,and innovation factor agglomeration at the macro-level.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the effect is stronger in regions with stronger intellectual property protection,more developed marketization,greater fiscal expenditure on science and technology,and stronger digital talent agglomeration.Further analysis suggests that data factor marketization promotes both local and neighboring high-quality innovation and supports green,high-quality socioeconomic transformation.
