Abstract:Agent-Based Modeling (ABM)aims to simulate the complex dynamics of human society by modeling agents and their interactions. Its operational logic follows a four-tiered simulation framework— “environment-individual-group-society”,encompassing the realistic depiction of the agent environment, the attribute settings of individual agents, the behavioral interactions among agent groups, and the emergent mechanisms of agent societies. With the support of artificial intelligence, the rapid development of ABM carries the risk of contagious alienation.Deviations in any segment of the “environment-individual-group-society”behavioral chain can mutually influence one another until a systemic deviation emerges. This may result in the simulated agents and their interactions failing to accurately reflect real-world societal conditions. If ABM is applied to guide social practices in real life,it may engender behaviors that violate human values and disrupt social order. Therefore,an integrated governance model combining legal dominance and ethical prioritization should be adopted. The science and technology ethics review system should clarify the subjects, objects, and procedures of ABM ethics review to impose effective regulation on the risk of contagious alienation in ABM.
