Intelligent Manufacturing:A Catalyst for Green Innovation in Enterprises——Research on the Special Action of Intelligent Manufacturing Pilot Demonstration

Abstract:Based on data from Chinese A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2022,this study employs the implementation of the “Smart Manufacturing Pilot Demonstration Special Action” policy as a quasi-natural experiment.Using a multi-period difference-in-differences model,it systematically examines the impact mechanism of smart manufacturing on corporate green innovation.The findings reveal that smart manufacturing significantly promotes corporate green innovation,a conclusion that holds after a series of robustness tests.Mechanism analysis indicates that smart manufacturing empowers green innovation through four pathways:artificial intelligence application,intellectual property protection,market structure optimization,and human capital enhancement.Moderating effect shows that information disclosure quality and media attention exert positive moderating roles in this relationship.Heterogeneity analysis reveals that this promotional effect is particularly pronounced when firms are located in cities with high marketization levels and exhibit strong ESG performance.This study provides theoretical foundations for understanding the relationship between smart manufacturing and corporate green innovation,offering practical guidance for government policies promoting smart manufacturing and supporting enterprises'green transformation and upgrading.
