Abstract This paper introduced panel-corrected standard errors model to investigate the influence of R&D and market structure on high technology firm performance.We took 4556 Chinese high technology firms as samples from 2005 to 2007.The result showed that R&D played a significant role in promoting firm performance,and competition played a noticeable moderating effect in lower concentration market.But the moderating role was not significant in higher concentration market.This paper deepened the theoretical understanding of the relationship between the market structure and the R&D performance of China's high-tech enterprises,and provided a theoretical guidance for improving the performance of Chinese high-tech enterprises
