Abstract This study examined the effect of corporate political activity in Bio-pharmaceutical Industry on product innovation,and investigated the underlying resources involved in the relationship between corporate political activity and product innovation.Data collected from 165 Chinese pharmaceutical firms were used to test the hypotheses.The findings show that corporate political activity is likely to lead to radical innovation and incremental innovation.Moreover,resource flexibility as an internal resource more strongly mediates the effect of corporate political activity on radical innovation;whereas political tie as an external resource more strongly mediates the effect of corporate political activity on incremental innovation
