| The Impact of the Development of the Digital Economy on Industrial Structure and Industrial Efficiency:Empirical Evidence from the Provincial Level |

Abstract This paper constructs a digital economy development evaluation index system from the three dimensions of digital infrastructure construction,digital industry development,and digital technology innovation,using the instrumental variable method to empirically test the impacts of digital economy from the dual perspectives of structure and efficiency with provincial panel data from 2014 to 2019.The study finds that the development of digital economy has a significant positive effect on industrial optimization and upgrading,and the positive effect on industrial efficiency improvement is stronger than that of industrial structure optimization.The positive driving effect of efficiency improvement is obviously greater than that of the western region.Further analysis finds that the interaction terms between the level of digital infrastructure construction,the level of digital industry development,and the level of digital technology innovation have both negative regression coefficients for industrial structure optimization and industrial efficiency improvement,which does not show inherent positive synergy effect on industrial optimization and upgrading.
