Research on the Measurement of Technological Innovation Efficiency, Regional Differences and Spatio-Temporal Convergence of Strategic Emerging Industries in China

Abstract:Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2013 to 2023,this study systematically measures the technological innovation efficiency of strategic emerging industries.It examines regional disparities in technological innovation efficiency using the Dagum Gini coefficient and its decomposition method,and tests the spatiotemporal convergence characteristics of such efficiency through σ-convergence,β-convergence,and spatial econometric models.The study found that:①The technological innovation efficiency of strategic emerging industries in the country and the four major regions shows an upward trend,and the efficiency in the eastern region is relatively high.②The overall difference,intra-regional difference and inter-regional difference of technological innovation efficiency of strategic emerging industries are gradually expanding.Inter-regional differences are the main source of overall differences,and the contribution rate is increasing year by year.③There is no significant σ convergence characteristic in the technological innovation efficiency of strategic emerging industries in China and the four major regions,but it exhibits typical β convergence characteristics.After considering the spatial factors,there are spatial β convergence characteristics in the whole country and the four major regions;the level of economic development,government support,digital infrastructure construction and the degree of opening up are the key factors affecting the convergence speed of technological innovation efficiency of strategic emerging industries among regions.
