Abstract:The traditional paradigm of science and technology(S&T)ethics research,dominated by normative speculation,has made important contributions to the construction of ethical principles,yet shows notable limitations in translating these principles into actionable governance solutions.To enhance the explanatory power and governance applicability of S&T ethics research,it is necessary to expand the dimensions of empirical investigation and simulation experiments on the basis of normative reflection.Survey research,case studies,and big data analysis provide empirical support at three levels:mapping social cognition,explaining the logic of action,and tracking the evolution of ethical issues,respectively.Generative agent-based simulation,as a frontier experimental paradigm,opens new pathways for reproducing ethical dilemmas and rehearsing governance solutions in virtual environments.This methodological expansion aims to bridge the gap between normative research and governance practice,fostering a more constructive dialogue between speculation and evidence,and between the normative and the empirical.
