Abstract：In constructing regional innovation system,special attention should be given to coordinating the relationship between the central and local governments.This article provided a depiction of the relationship between central and local governments in the regional innovation system as well as the evolution of such a relationship since the founding of the People's Republic of China.It pointed out the new features of the relationship between local and central governments,and put forward the due role that the central and local governments should play in regional innovation system.
