Abstract Based on a detailed investigation of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council(BBSRC)and its institutes,this paper discusses and analyzes the key features of the pay system in the UK's public sector research establishments(PSREs),i.e.employment policies,human resource structure,payment and allowances,performance review and income for the payment.
