知识惯性视角下跨界搜索对新产品开发绩效的影响研究

Abstract How to improve the success rate of new product development (NPD) has become an important issue of concern in both academia and industry.Although some studies acknowledge the benefits of external heterogeneous knowledge brought by boundary-spanning search (BS)on NPD performance,few studies discuss the relationship between BS and NPD performance from the perspective of knowledge inertia (KI).This study empirically examines the influence mechanism of BS on NPD performance based on a large sample of questionnaire data from manufacturing enterprises,and further explains the mediating role of KI and the moderating role of organizational unlearning (OU).The results show that BS (proactive BS (PBS),following BS (FBS)) has a positive impact on NPD performance;learning inertia (LI)partially mediates the relationship between PBS and NPD performance,experience inertia (EI)partially mediates the relationship between FBS and NPD performance;OU negatively moderates the relationship between LI and NPD performance,and further negatively moderates the mediating role of LI between PBS and NPD performance.However,the relationship between EI and NPD performance is not moderated by OU.These results not only deepen the research on the relationship between BS and NPD performance from the perspective of KI in theory,but also provide beneficial implications for managers to optimize BS strategies and improve NPD performance in practice.
