Abstract：Based on the first questionnaire of scientists’ values and philosophy,this paper studies regional differences of scientists’ professional values in China.Significant differences have been found among the observed regions.The scientists in central and western regions have a stronger sense of academic and social responsibility,scientific spirit and confidence than those in eastern regions.According to the scores of professional values,central and western areas have higher scores than eastern area.The findings shows that the scores of professional values have a significant negative correlation with regional R&D expenditure,accepted patent applications and imported technology contracts.
