Diverse Pathways for Breakthrough Innovation Driven by Knowledge Co-creation Under“Bottleneck”Constraints:A Hybrid Method Study Based on Regression and fsQCA

Abstract:Amid rising global sci-tech competition and constraints on key core technologies,breakthrough innovation is vital for high-tech firms facing bottlenecks.Drawing on knowledge co-creation and the TOE framework,this study applies multiple regression and fsQCA to 238 Chinese listed firms in computer,communication,and electronic equipment manufacturing.Results show that cooperation,co-creation experience,innovation capability,and regional knowledge supply significantly promote breakthrough innovation.R&D investment and intellectual property protection have insignificant average net effects,but their roles depend on specific configurations with other conditions.FsQCA identifies four paths:environment-organization leverage,institution-capability fit,experience-technology iteration,and network-ecosystem integration.This study reveals the multi-factor configurational mechanism through which knowledge co-creation enables breakthrough innovation and offers implications for enterprises to choose suitable innovation pathways and government to optimize regional innovation ecosystems.
