Abstract：As the main reference for economic governance rules,high-standard regional trade agreements(RTAs)play an important role in the digital trade governance system.This article empirically examines the impact of high-standard RTAs on bilateral digital trade barriers using DESTA and DSTRI databases.Research has found that high-standard RTAs can significantly reduce digital trade barriers;High-standard RTAs signed between economies with more significant income disparities are more conducive to reducing digital trade barriers.The agreements with the final tariff reduced to 0 and including“post-border provisions”will have a greater impact on reducing digital trade barriers.The mechanism test results indicate that through promoting the deepening of economic intellectual property rules,e-commerce rules,and data flow rules,high-standard RTAs thereby reduce the digital trade barriers between both parties.This study provides a new research perspective on the effectiveness of regional trade liberalization in reducing digital trade barriers,and also offers new ideas for future bilateral or multilateral negotiations involving digital governance rules.
