From Incremental to Disruptive:Can Digital-Intelligent Transformation Accelerate the Transformation of Enterprise Innovation Models?

Abstract:Driven by the accelerated evolution of the global digital economy and the strategy of developing new quality productive forces,the digital-intelligent transformation of enterprises has become an important driver of the transformation of enterprise innovation models.Using data on Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2023,this paper constructs a digital-intelligent transformation index covering both digitalization and intelligentization,and develops an indicator for enterprise innovation model transformation to examine the impact of digital-intelligent transformation on enterprise innovation model transformation.The results show that digital-intelligent transformation significantly promotes the shift of enterprise innovation from incremental innovation to disruptive innovation,and the findings remain robust after a series of endogeneity and robustness tests.Mechanism analysis indicates that digital-intelligent transformation promotes innovation model transformation by alleviating financing constraints,enhancing enterprise trust,and strengthening the effect under the support of digital infrastructure.Further analysis reveals that the promoting effect is more pronounced in state-owned enterprises,high-tech enterprises,and firms operating in competitive industries.The findings provide useful implications for promoting enterprise innovation model upgrading in the digital economy.
