Abstract Different research groups have different emphasis on transaction cost.The paper draw a knowledge map for related concepts of transaction cost and demonstrated the connotation and hierarchies.Transaction cost is a cost of social relations in essence,and plays the role of adhesive for value chain and friction in industrial economy.The transaction cost determines the organizational boundary through the relationship between the internal transaction cost and the market transaction cost,and the relative change between the internal transaction cost and the market transaction cost will influence the trend of the organizational boundary.Industry chain is a special form of organization.When the change of the internal transaction cost is greater than the change of market transaction cost,the scale of the organization will become larger,and vice versa.With the reduction of transaction cost and organization deconstruction,business model will become platform-based“small and beautiful”organization
