Abstract The technology strategy decision is an important task for the board of the companies listed on GEM.This paper analyses GEM companies' board structure from the basic principles of technical track.It found that the information-intensive, science-based, enterprises' board structure have similar characteristics.The indicators of board size, the proportion of non-executive directors, the board education level, the proportion of technical experts and institutional investors proportion of these enterprises are higher than the scale-intensive and supplier-dominated enterprises.It also found that there are significant differences in some of the indicators about the board structure.Information-intensive enterprises' chairman and CEO joint proportion and scale-intensive enterprises' professional managers proportion are significantly higher.This paper reveals the influence of technological trajectory on the board structure through the managemental explaination on the above findings.
