| Self-Reliance in Science & Technology and Chinese Modernization: From the Perspective of the Coordination Between Material Civilization and Spiritual Civilization |

Abstract High-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology are important strategic supports to realize the Chinese path to modernization.The coordination of material civilization and spiritual civilization is an important feature of the Chinese path to modernization,which is different from the western modernization of“material supremacy”.This paper focuses on the analysis of the dual role of scientific and technological innovation in material civilization and spiritual civilization,and explores how to effectively grasp the opportunities of industrial transformation,to achieve self-reliance in science and technology,and to win the historic initiative of development in order to better coordinate material civilization and spiritual civilization.This paper argues that in order to speed up the realization of the Chinese path to modernization with material civilization and spiritual civilization in harmony,it is necessary to lay a solid foundation of material technology and promote spiritual and cultural values.To strengthen the top-level scientific and technological design of Chinese path to modernization in the new wave of scientific and technological revolution with the strategic support of achieving high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement,we will further improve the new national system and handle the relationship between the government and the market in the new wave of technological revolution;We will improve the layout of national strategic scientific and technological forces,and create a multidimensional innovation ecosystem;promote“technology for goodness”to lead technology governance,and achieve“technology for goodness”to drive self-reliance and self-improvement;We will enhance confidence in“Chinese path to modernization”and promote international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation to a higher level.
