Abstract From the perspective of the overall society and long-term development, the development of digital economy is consistent with the goal of common prosperity. However, from the perspective of specific industries and short-to-medium-term development, the digital economy may not have inherent consistency with the goal of common prosperity, or may have limited consistency. To achieve common prosperity, it is necessary to vigorously develop the digital economy and expand the cake, while also addressing the negative impact of the short-to-medium-term development of the digital economy on local industries, employment and workers’ income. Therefore, new theoretical foundations need to be proposed and corresponding policies need to be adopted to bridge the digital divide, improve education, training, employment services, labor protection and labor supervision.
