Abstract Scientific and technological innovation is the first driving force to realize the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.The Chinese government puts the modernization of agricultural science and technology in a prominent position when planning the modernization of agriculture and rural areas,pays attention to the summary of the development experience and constantly deepens the understanding of the modernization of agricultural science and technology.The modernization of agricultural science and technology is a dynamic process with prominent characteristics of times and stages,and its connotation is different in different periods.The connotation and characteristics of modernization of agricultural science and technology in the new stage can be summarized as modernization of agricultural science and technology system,modernization of research and development level,modernization of scientific and technological equipment level,modernization of talent team,modernization of innovation management as well as modernization of achievement transformation.To improve the modernization of agricultural science and technology level in our country,we should put present situation of our agricultural modernization of science and technology as a starting point,following the law of development of agricultural science and technology innovation,and deal with the relationships between basic research and applied research,technology transfer and technology originality,technical innovation and technical transformation,government investment and social capital.Then around the industrial layout policy chain,innovation chain,capital chain,we are required to speed up the agriculture technology innovation process,which will provide strong scientific and intellectual support for promoting agricultural and rural modernization and rural revitalization.
