Abstract Since Teece pioneered the issue of profiting from innovation in 1986,research around this topic has become increasingly prosperous.Accordingly,research contexts and conclusions have become increasingly diversified.However,the existing review articles either lack details due to their wide range or not reflect the latest progress due to their earlier publication.The topic of this review is strictly limited to the effectiveness of various appropriation strategies and their influencing factors.By intensively investigating 25 representative literatures,it is found that the disparity on the effectiveness of given appropriate strategy exceeds the consistency,while the explanatory variables are too fine-grained and lack generality.Therefore,future researches should introduce case study as a supplementary method for constructing the theoretical framework about appropriate strategy and profiting,and replace the subjective opinion survey with objective inter-variable relationship examination and treat the factors affecting the effectiveness of appropriate strategy as moderators,further refine them.
