Abstract Academic entrepreneurship is not only an effective way to develop science and technology-based small-micro enterprises and strengthen the knowledge-based economy in China under the background of innovation and entrepreneurship,but also an urgent need to break through the bottleneck of technology transfer in Chinese universities and improve the conversion rate of scientific and technological achievements.It also has a demonstration and tutorial role for college students' entrepreneurship,and is conducive to the growth of high-quality team of innovative entrepreneurs and high quality employment.However,the growth process of academic entrepreneurship is complex and the failure rate is high.Through in-depth interviews with three typical university entrepreneurs in Tianjin,this paper explores the essential relationship between the initial conditions of entrepreneurship,business model and entrepreneurship growth.The research establishes a comprehensive model of entrepreneurial growth process based on the business model and has certain enlightenment for scholars' academic research and practice of entrepreneurship.
