Abstract Through detailed study of important documents including quantitative statistics on all the policy documents and working documents formulated and issued by China Association for Science and Technology from 2001 to 2015,this paper analyzed the features of its policy evolution trend during the three periods of 2001—2006,2007—2011 and from 2012 to the present.The results show that the function system of China Association for Science and Technology has developed from single to pluralistic,the work model has changed from management to governance,and the policy structure has transferred from one fold to combinational.Based on the theoretical interpretation of these trends in the perspective of knowledge activity,some pertinent suggestions are put forward in the light of the development requirements to the leading role played by science and technology in the new period.
