Abstract By using the spatial panel data of 9 cities in the Pearl River Delta from 2000 to 2011, this paper builds three spatial panel data models based on geographic and economic features among cities, and analyses the influencing factors of science and technology service on regional innovation capability. Results indicate that firstly, S&T service industry can bring positive impacts on the regional innovation capability in varying degrees by ways of expanding industrial scale, advancing industrial level and upgrading industrial informationization.Secondly, both geographic characteristics and economic characteristics have an impact on regional innovation capability and its spatial correlation.Thirdly, the development of S&T service can not only enhance the capability of the regional innovation, but also help improve the innovation capability of the adjacent and even non-adjacent regional by spatial spillover effect.Fourthly, the impacts get featured with dynamic evolution.
