Abstract：In order to objectively assess China s accumulated technology focus and the prospect of its possible future in the global competitive landscape as a latecomer,this paper firstly analyzed the patterns of comparative advantage of the 10 PCT application leading countries based on the relevant research literature,data sources and analysis methods Secondly,it explored the specialization patterns of countries by selecting the rapid growth sub fields in the technological fields Thirdly,it analyzed the technological performance of countries in the 32 technology fields Finally,it discassed their policy implications of the findings The conclusion emphasized that China needs to choose the selective diversification of technology in the global technology competition as its catching up strategy
