Digital Trade Rules and the Resilience of Global Value Chain in Manufacturing Industry

Abstract:This paper constructs a comprehensive index to measure the depth of digital trade rules and the resilience of global value chain in manufacturing industry,and systematically examines their relationship and underlying mechanisms.The results show the followings.①The depth of digital trade rules significantly enhances the resilience of the manufacturing global value chain.②Resilience is enhanced through improving the quality of digital input and institutional quality.③The vertical depth of digital trade rules and information security provisions exert the most positive impact,and the depth of digital trade rules enhances the resilience of the global value chain of manufacturing,primarily in developed countries and in labor-intensive and capital-intensive industries.Therefore,high-standard international digital trade rules should be applied,so as to strengthen manufacturing digitalization and institutional adaptability,and further enhance its resilience and competitiveness in global value chains.
