Abstract:The growing trade frictions between China and the United States have made a huge impact on China-US collaboration since 2018.To objectively evaluate the impact of China-US collaboration on China, and further to provide evidence for how to cope with the transformation on the bilateral academic cooperation level, this paper first takes 269647 academic papers as research objects, which are jointly produced only by China and the US from 2010 to 2018.Then the paper integrates the explicit information, implicit information and performance information, which is hidden in the paper, and further constructs a multi-dimensional matrix evaluation framework. On the horizontal dimension level, the paper constructs three mutually exclusive sample subsets produced by the cooperative research led by China, the US,and by both countries. On the vertical dimension level, the paper systematically analyzes the characteristics of objects, contents and level of collaboration in terms of the participants, research contents and level of research.Through long-term,large-sample and multi-dimensional data analyses, this research aims to depict the roles and positions of China and the US in bilateral academic cooperation, and further conducts an objective assessment on China-US collaboration impacts, and thus to provide evidence to reasonably response to the changing bilateral relationship on the academic cooperation level.
