Abstract The central area of China is the important link between the East and the West,connecting South and North.And it plays an important role in the national independent innovation strategy.Considering Anhui province is the typical representative of the self-innovation in the central province,this paper probes into the relationship between regional self-innovation and economic growth empirically tested by using the 1998—2012 statistical panel data of Anhui.The result shows that the self-innovation of Anhui and economic growth keep a balance relationship in the long run,but there are some differences in several regions.Based on the empirical results,we offer some suggestions of the innovation development in the central region
