Abstract Improving competitiveness through the integration of industrial chain enjoys high priority among the shipbuilding industry in recent years.This article first reviewed the experience and lessons from the integration of shipbuilding industrial chain among Japan,Korea and China.Then an applicable integrated model of China s shipbuilding industrial chain was proposed.Then,the combination of quantitative strategic planning matrix(QSPM)and triangular fuzzy assessment was employed to construct a selection model of the integration of China s shipbuilding industrial chain.On this stage,Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding(Holdings)Ltd.,was then described in depth as an example of empirical research.Finally,the authors concluded that China s shipbuilding industry should draw the lessons from shipbuilding industrial conglomeration and diverse management in Japan and Korea,optimize the distribution and collaboration system of shipbuilding industry on the basis of specialization,scaling and characterization,reduce cost and improve efficiency in order to strengthen core competitiveness of Chinese shipbuilding companies
