Dynamic Evolution and Driving Factors of Industrial Spatial Structure Under Environmental Regulation in China |

Abstract The paper examines the effects of environmental regulation on industrial spatial structure by adopting GMM dynamic panel model.The research is based on the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of environmental regulation and industrial spatial structure from 2006 to 2015 in China.Through the analysis, the results show as follows:①The spatial disparity of environmental regulation can be found in year 2006—2015,reflecting in more intensive regulation in east China than that in the west. Especially,highly environmental-regulated area experienced an even intensified environmental regulation since 2012.While,the intensity of environmental regulation of its counterparty,namely the lowly environmental-regulated area, went up and down.②The industrial spatial structure from 2006 to 2015 demonstrated an east-to-middle and west movement trend generally.The industrial spatial structure was diffusive in highly environmental-regulated area,that of concentrate in lowly regulated area.③The Regional Effects can be detected in national industrial spatial structure in the impact of environmental regulation.More specifically, environmental regulation was under inverted U-shaped relationship with industrial spatial structure in China.Industrial spatial structure was negatively correlated with environmental regulation in highly environmental-regulated area.While it illustrated positive correlation in lowly environmental-regulated area.Economic development level and foreign trade policies had a positive effect on the proportion of industrial added value.The labour costs had a negative effect on the proportion of industrial added value.Uncertainty was found in the impact of urbanization on the regional industrial spatial structure.
